Our U16 Boys Take Silver at the Dulari Cup – What a Weekend!

Wow, what a weekend of soccer! From July 31 to August 2, our Sefa Soccer Academy U16 team took part in the Dulari Cup, a fantastic tournament organized by the Fijian community here in British Columbia at Newton Athletic Park in Surrey. And honestly? We couldn’t be prouder of our boys.

Dulari Cup – A Tournament Built on Community

First of all, a huge thank you to the organizers. The Dulari Cup has become a real highlight of summer soccer in the Lower Mainland, and this year was no exception. The atmosphere, the hospitality, the level of play — everything was top notch. Events like this remind us why we love kids soccer so much. It’s not just about winning, it’s about community.

Two Group Stage Wins and a Trip to the Final

Now, onto the football itself. Our team came into the group stage focused and hungry. As a result, we won both of our group games and booked a spot in the final. Not bad at all, especially when you consider that many of our players were actually younger than their opponents. In the final, we came up against a strong South Pacific U16 side and, unfortunately, we fell just short. Silver medals it is. Of course, the boys were a little disappointed right after the whistle — that’s natural. But once the dust settled, everyone realized what an achievement this was.

A Younger Team Punching Above Its Weight

Think about it: a younger squad, playing up against bigger and more experienced teams, and still reaching the final. That says a lot about the character of these kids and the work they put in at training week after week. Moreover, tournaments like this one give our players exactly the kind of competitive experience you simply can’t replicate in practice.

At Sefa Soccer Academy, our goal has always been player development first. Results like this weekend’s are just the cherry on top. Whether your child is taking their first touches or dreaming of playing at a high level, our programs are built to help every kid grow — as a player and as a person.

Soccer Registrations Now Open – Burnaby, New West, Coquitlam, Port Moody & Surrey

So, what’s next? Well, we’re already looking ahead to the fall season, and soccer registrations are now open! We welcome players from Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Surrey and all across the Lower Mainland. If you’ve been thinking about finding a soccer academy for your son or daughter, there’s honestly no better time to join us.

Congratulations again to our U16 boys — you made us proud. And thank you to the parents, coaches, and of course the Fijian soccer community for an unforgettable weekend.

See you on the pitch!
