Soccer Skills Center – Individual Skills Training for Kids in Burnaby
The SEFA Skills Center is a focused training program designed to help young players sharpen the core technical skills that matter most in soccer — dribbling, first touch, finishing, 1v1 attacking, and decision-making under pressure. It runs in small groups of 8 players, in Burnaby, for kids aged U8 to U12.
What the Skills Center Focuses On
Most regular team training is built around tactics and team play. The Skills Center is the opposite — it’s about the individual player and the technical foundation they need to play at a higher level.
Sessions focus on:
-
Dribbling — close control, change of direction, beating defenders 1v1
-
First touch — receiving the ball under pressure from any angle
-
Finishing and shooting technique
-
Speed of play and decision-making
-
Body positioning, balance, and coordination
Why We Use Opposed Drills
At SEFA, we believe young players learn faster when they’re challenged. Every drill in the Skills Center is built to include a defender, a decision, or some form of pressure — because that’s how the real game works. Opposed drills help players read body positioning, time their movements, react to pressure, and apply their technique in situations that actually matter on game day. It’s the fastest way to turn a technique into a real skill.
Small Groups, More Reps
The Skills Center is limited to 8 players per group. Smaller groups mean:
-
More touches on the ball per player
-
More 1v1 reps against a defender
-
Direct, specific coaching feedback every session
-
Players grouped by skill level for the right challenge
Who It’s For
The Skills Center is designed for boys and girls U8 to U12 from Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Vancouver, and the surrounding areas. It’s a great fit for:
-
Club players who want extra technical training outside of team practice
-
Kids who love soccer and want to take their game more seriously
-
Players preparing for tryouts or stepping up to a higher level
-
Beginners who want focused skill development in a smaller setting
